SCULPTURE AT Bermondsey Square was conceived through a series of six-month publicly funded commissions begun in 2014 in collaboration with artist Karen Tang, ensuring the project’s development would be artist-led and share VITRINE’s focus on artistic experimentation. It ran until 2018 at this location.
The platform aims to widen the opportunities for artists who had no previous experience in the public realm to create outdoor sculpture, at a time when there were few other temporary outdoor sculpture commissioning platforms in London, and to develop a broader dialogue around this artistic practice.
